Arrest, Search & Seizure Sonny McAfee teaches this interesting and informative course that puts the principles of arrest, search and seizure into a usable, common sense format. Participants analyze, discuss and share conclusions in group and class to explore the principles of this TCLEOSE core course. This class starts with basic citizen police encounters through arrest search or seizure and progresses to how levels of suspicion are developed and documented. Code concepts involved in arrests and the seizure and search of persons and property. Warrants and exceptions to warrant requirements are also addressed including scenarios that officers use in groups to analyze what is the best course of action. Warrantless searches pursuant to consent, search incident to arrest, automobiles, and in exigent circumstances will be examined for application in the daily work of law enforcement officers. Officers discuss proper procedure and the likelihood of prosecution in each case. This course meets and exceeds the requirements of Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education #2108 as a core course for an intermediate certificate for 15 hours of TCLEOSE credit.
