An Investigative Approach - Cultural Diversity

"At last, a cultural diversity class we can use in our jobs!" seems to be the
overall response of participants in this class.  
Cultural Diversity Class is a four to
eight hour class (depending on your needs) that shows how to use cultural clues promoting
communication and safety for the officer's advantage.

Finally, a common sense approach with methods for daily use techniques incorporating
cultural clues. Cultural Diversity meets all the objectives of TCLEOSE 3939 including general
characteristics of cultures, gang cultures, hate crime groups, basic principles of Islam,
contact with members of specific cultural groups in the work place and community, & racial
profiling plus consular notification information.  The focus of this class is on how learning
cultural cues can increase an officer's powers of communication, observation, interviewing,
interrogation and conflict resolution skills to prevent the  escalation of a situation and to
properly address citizen concerns.  

Jill Randolph McAfee is a life long educator as well as an international advanced certified
law enforcement planner.  Her background includes curriculum writing, with teaching
certifications in psychology, social and biological sciences with a Masters degree in
Educational Supervision. Jill wrote curriculum guides for sociology including extensive
studies in cultural diversity. She has formed international training teams that planned &
supervised the training of 12,000 officers in Bosnia - Herzegovina.  Jill has served as the
Cultural Diversity adjunct instructor at Irving Police Department 2004-2005 and 2007-2008
as well as the North Richland Hills PD adjunct instructor for 2008.

The focus of this class is on how learning cultural cues can increase an officer's thinking
arsenal.  Adult communication, observation, interviewing and interrogation skills and
conflict resolution education techniques are paired with how Cultural Diversity can enhance
officer safety, skills to prevent the  escalation of a situation and to properly address citizen
concerns.  This course helps participants lay the framework for a Cultural Diversity class
tailor made for their specific communities.

A training matrix and curriculum guide make this program easy to implement.
