| Equivocal death investigations are those where the cause of death is questionable or suspicious. These deaths may resemble suicides, accidents or deaths from natural causes. Facts of the cases may appear misleading or staged. This course assists participants in determining what happened with hard hitting cases. This sixteen hour course is instructed by Professor G. W. Hildebrand. Professor G.W. Hildebrand retired as a DPS Captain in 2004 after 26 years of dedicated service. He served as a Trooper, Patrol Sergeant, Texas Ranger and was the Lieutenant in charge of the Governor Protective Detail during the Ann Richards and George Bush governorships. He is one of only two certified FBI and International Criminal Investigative Analysis Fellowship (ICIAF) trained Psychological Profilers in Texas. He served as a committee chair for the ICIAF and is currently the Department Chair for the Criminal Justice Department at Austin Community College. Inspector Hildebrand is considered an expert in criminal investigation, questionable death, crime scene analysis, statement analysis, and interpersonal violence involving sexual predation. He has investigated, consulted upon and reviewed over 2500 violent crimes throughout his career. He has provided advanced training in investigative analysis and several other criminal topics to thousands of criminal justice professionals including police, prosecutors, judicial officers and corrections personnel throughout Texas and the United States. He earned a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Southwest Texas State University.
